Continuers Sew Stretch Clothing Course
Couldn't load pickup availability
Duration: 6 weeks x 3 hours
Skill Level: Intermediate and Advanced
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
Dive into the world of stretchwear! Calling all swimmers, aspiring yogis, gym junkies, fitness fanatics, lovers of complex stretchy pants/tops and even bras (with or without underwire). We've got your next level of stretch sewing needs covered in this extended 6 week course.
If you've tackled the basics, now it's time to improve your confidence in sewing with materials that like to really move around as you work with them. Focus on working with two and four-way stretch fabric, knits, stretch lining, various types of elastics, lace, trims and power meshes. We'll reinforce some of the basic concepts you will have learnt from sewing beginner stretch garments: using the correct needles/fabric/threads, elastic and fasteners. We'll also show you how to best handle and combine fabrics with different properties and levels of stretch to achieve a great fit and professional finish.
Gain confidence using your machine, overlocker or coverstitch to finish seams and hems more professionally. Our goal is to get you creating garments that others will say look like store-bought ones.
This is a great follow-on from our Beginners Learn to Sew Stretch Clothing Course, particularly for anyone with a more complex project in mind. To get the most out of the intermediate to advanced content of this course, we recommended that you should have completed at least 3 to 4 garments of any kind, trouble free, following a commercial pattern, prior to attending this class.
We assume attendees have full competency in operating a sewing machine and are comfortable working on their own without supervision at times (see Beginners Learn to Sew Stretch Clothing Course first, if you don't fit this criteria). Refunds will not be available if you have incorrectly assumed your skill level for this course.
Bobbin and Ink is an LGBTQI+ safe space and this course welcomes women, men and anyone identifying otherwise. The content of the class is geared towards adults. If you know a teen or child who wants to learn to sew, check out our Kids and Teens Learn to Sew Clothes Course.
