From Passion to Production: Q&A with Gretchen "Gertie" Hirsch
WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?:
We're incredibly excited to welcome international author, blogger, sew-lebrity and all-round champion of dress-fitting, Gretchen "Gertie" Hirsch, to our studio for a "meet the maker" style question and answer session on Friday 12th May.
Join us from 6:00pm for some light refreshments and mingling fun times. The talk and Q&A with Gertie will kick off at 6:30pm, followed by general mingling and a chance to meet Gertie herself. We will have a range of Gertie's patterns and books for sale afterwards, so stick around to chat and browse the range.
We're discussing sewing, pattern making and how plans have changed from when she first began blogging and writing in the early days. How do you juggle down-to-earth tutorials and sew-a-longs while launching a new fabric range? What are some of the things that get in the way of "making," the more your passion for sewing and design grows? We're looking forward to hearing more on the night.
If you have a piece of clothing you've made from Gertie's patterns, feel free to wear it to get the conversation started!
GET TO KNOW OUR GUEST:
Based in New York, Gretchen has written four sewing books focussed on empowering all people to sew, and guiding students through tackling vintage patterns and fit. She has built her name into a trusted source of sewing know-how, via her blog Gertie's Blog for Better Sewing. She also designs her own line of vintage-inspired patterns for pattern company Butterick.
Gertie's trip brings her to Australia to promote the launch of her new fabric range, currently on sale at Spotlight.
